Statement security situation in Al-Hasakah

Statement
The Assyrian Democratic Party is following with deep concern the serious and rapidly escalating security situation in Al-Hasakah Governorate and the areas of northeastern Syria, along with the accompanying military tensions that threaten civilian safety and social peace, and place the future of the region and its components before grave risks that serve neither Syria nor its people.
Al-Hasakah Governorate—particularly the Khabur area and the town of Tel Tamer—represents a historical, humanitarian, and existential depth for our Assyrian people. In recent years, these areas have suffered the scourge of terrorism, violence, and displacement, and the آثار of those tragedies remain vivid in the collective memory of the region’s inhabitants. Any new military escalation would risk reproducing catastrophe and threatening what remains of the authentic Assyrian presence on this land.
In this context, the Assyrian Democratic Party affirms its absolute rejection of turning areas of civilian concentration—especially the Assyrian villages along the banks of the Khabur River—into arenas of conflict or sites for settling military or regional scores. Peaceful civilians must remain outside the circle of conflict, and their protection is a national and moral responsibility that rests on all parties.
The Party welcomes any understandings or agreements aimed at achieving a ceasefire and stemming Syrian bloodshed, foremost among them the announced understandings between the Syrian government and the Syrian Democratic Forces. It emphasizes that the success of such understandings depends on a serious commitment to their implementation through proper channels and responsible political and dialogical means, far from the language of weapons and escalation.
Based on its firm conviction that there is no solution to the Syrian crisis except through dialogue, the Assyrian Democratic Party calls on all Syrian parties to resort to the national dialogue table and to adopt political understandings as the sole path to addressing differences, in a manner that guarantees the unity of the country, its sovereignty, and the rights of all its national and religious components without exception.
The Party also stresses the importance of involving the region’s indigenous components—foremost among them the Assyrian people—in any political processes or understandings related to Syria’s future, in order to ensure genuine representation and effective protection of the historical presence and legitimate rights.
As the Assyrian Democratic Party warns of the dangers of continued escalation, it affirms that Syria’s stability will only be achieved through understanding, respect for pluralism, and prioritizing the supreme national interest over narrow interests. A stable and secure Syria is a Syria for all its people, without exclusion or marginalization.
