Statement of the ninth conference of the Assyrian Democratic Party

The ninth conference of the Assyrian Democratic Party was held on the twenty-first and twenty-second of October 2023 in Germany, with the participation of the party’s branches in the homeland and abroad, under the slogan (The Assyrian question is land and identity).

Because of the major international changes taking place in the Middle East region and the ongoing conflicts that are plaguing it, and given their direct impact on our Assyrian people in Syria and Iraq in particular, the general orientation of our ninth conference was focused on working diligently to protect the Assyrian existence and constantly strive to establish their rights in the constitutions of countries. In which they live as indigenous people residing on their historical lands, and that is through revitalizing, activating and supporting the Assyrian institutions operating in the homeland and the diaspora based on the absolute belief that collective work based on the spirit of complete and integrated responsibility among all Assyrian institutions is the cornerstone of moving forward towards supporting the Assyrian cause and the Assyrian people, as we believed at all times that any Assyrian political institution must always work for the just Assyrian cause, which continued to challenge the deafening international silence in the face of what happened and is happening to marginalize the Assyrian people, seize their land and assimilate them with other nationalities.

Emphasis were also placed on the role of the diaspora politically, economically, and through the media, in order to support the Assyrian presence in the homeland, relying on the support of the youth to energise and renew their activities in political activities and paying attention to the Assyrian child, the hope of the Assyrian nation and its promising future.

The Assyrian Democratic Party also renewed its organizational structure in an effort to move away from centralization in decision-making and activate the leadership role of the party members working in the homeland, with its members in in the diaspora as being its greatest supporter. In the end, nominations and elections for the general body of the party took place and the newly elected body will elect ,at its first meeting ،an executive body that will work on the actual implementation of the decisions of the conference and its activities. The party court was also elected, where nominations and elections took place in an atmosphere of democracy, transparency and brotherhood, and at the end the conference extended its Congratulations and best wishes to the new leadership and wished it success in its ninth session. The conference concluded its work and activities with reverence to the name of the Assyrian people.

Long live the Assyrian nation and long live it’s just cause.
