Statement of Condemnation and Denunciation

On Monday, March 17, 2025, the cemetery of the Assyrian village of Tel Massas was subjected to vandalism and desecration, with crosses being broken in a blatant violation of the sanctity of the deceased and the feelings of their families.

We strongly condemn this heinous attack on the Tel Massas cemetery. This disgraceful act not only violates the sanctity of religious sites but also poses a direct threat to civil peace and coexistence among the people of our nation.

We call upon the relevant authorities, especially the security and judicial bodies, to fully assume their responsibilities by launching an urgent and transparent investigation to identify the perpetrators and bring them to justice. We also urge them to take necessary measures to prevent such attacks from recurring. Furthermore, we call on all social and religious forces to unite in confronting any attempts to incite discord and destabilize society.

Coexistence and mutual respect are the cornerstones of any healthy society, and any attack on sacred sites is an assault on the human and religious values that bind us together.
